Withdrawal of a dangerous children's dish from the Cypriot market

The Ministry of Health informs the consumer public that the Health Services of the Ministry have been informed, through the website of the Unified Food Control Agency (EFET) of Greece, that the melamine plate described below, is non-compliant with the requirements of the legislation.

Specifically, in the framework of the programs carried out by the Regional Directorate of Western Greece of EFET, "Monitoring of Food Safety Factors - Official Control of Materials and Objects Intended to Contact Food" and in collaboration with the General Chemist of Kra. The Athens Chemical Service sampled a melamine dish, which after laboratory testing was found to be non-compliant with the requirements of the legislation, as it measured the migration of melamine in concentrations that exceed the legal limits for contact with food.

The announcement of EFET states that this is the shallow melamine plate with "Star Wars" representation, with lot number Lot No 1115, which is manufactured in China.

In the said announcement, EFET requested from the company "JUMBO Societe Anonyme Commercial Societe Anonyme", which imports and distributes the said product in Greece, the immediate recall / withdrawal of the whole batch from the market, while the relevant controls.

Based on the above, the Health Services of the Ministry of Health of Cyprus, in an investigation, identified that these dishes are also available in the Cypriot market and after information from the distribution company, which was informed by the respective company in Greece, instructions were given for its immediate recall / withdrawal from the market.

However, because some of the batch in question may already be in the possession of consumers, they are urged to avoid using it and return it to the places where they bought it.
