The issue of upgrading the ranks of police officers and firefighters has been brought to a happy conclusion by reaching a relevant agreement with the Ministry of Finance, PASYDY, SAK and SYPYK report.

As pointed out in a statement, after long-term efforts and consultations within the framework of MEPA, which culminated in the last period, the Minister of Finance Constantinos Petridis has assured the leaderships of PASYDY, SAK and SYPYK that the intended upgrading of the levels of special police officers, police officers and firefighters up to the rank of Senior Constable and the corresponding ranks of the Fire Department is accepted and the agreed arrangements will be launched for inclusion in the 2023 budgets with the aim of their implementation.

Specifically and based on the relevant agreements, it is envisaged that all positions will be upgraded by one scale by differentiating the admission grade from the combined scales A3-A5-A7(ii) to the combined scales A5-A7-A8(i).

PASYDY, SAK and SYPYK welcome the historically important agreement, as they say, reached with the Ministry of Finance in the context of which the dominant request of the members of the Police and Fire Department is satisfied and they express their warm thanks to those who contributed to the achievement of this important goal .

In particular PASYDY, SAK and SYPYK thank the Minister of Finance and the Director General of the Ministry, the Director General of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, the Chief of Police who was a companion in the whole effort and the head of the scientific team who prepared the studies to document the request.

Special thanks, it is noted, are due to the President of DISY Averof Neophytou for his contribution to the success of the whole effort.

The Associations express the certainty that the Parliamentary Parties that have been in favor of the request throughout the years will vote in favor of the relevant provisions of the Budget.

It should also be noted that the Ministry of Justice is already in charge of amending the relevant Regulations with the aim of submitting them to the Parliament for a vote.
