Extension of measures against its dispersal COVID-19 until November 9 and the start of a booster dose for people vaccinated with J&J was decided by the Council of Ministers at its meeting today.
Specifically, in a proposal presented by the Minister of Health Michalis Hadjipandella, the need is pointed out that in the next period all the necessary actions will continue to be taken, in order to avoid deterioration of the epidemiological image of the country.
According to a statement, taking into account the following winter period, the expected outbreak of seasonal infections, but also the wider situation prevailing throughout Europe with the reinstatement of strict restrictive measures in some countries, the Council of Ministers decided today to extend the existing measures until 9 November 2021.
The measures, it is noted, will be reviewed in conjunction with the epidemiological data as they will be formed in the coming days.
In addition, the Council of Ministers, after examining the data of the Ministry of Health, according to which in the period July-October, 8,6% of cases and 4,2% of patients who had completed their vaccination regimen had received the vaccine approved the vaccine boost to people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, provided that they belonged to one of the following population groups: , health professionals, and residents and workers in nursing homes.
It is clarified that for the booster vaccination, a period of six (6) months must have elapsed from the initial vaccination.
Individuals in the above groups will have the choice of booster dose between Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna vaccines. Further details on the start of the booster procedure will be issued in the coming days.
