The hearing of the "lawsuit" filed against the Turkish Cypriot journalist Ali Kismir has been postponed.
According to what "Kipris Postasi" reports, the lawsuit filed against the president of the Turkish trade union "Basın-Sen" for an article about the "presidential elections" written in 2020 and for which he could be charged a sentence of up to ten years in "imprisonment", adjourned to October 27.
Mr. Kismir, accused of the "White House" article published on the "Bugün Kıbrıs" news website before the 2020 presidential election, appeared before the "judge" today.
In his statements after today's "hearing" of the case, the president of the Turkish Bar Association, Hasan Esendagli, stated that after the "trial" the witnesses will appear before the Nicosia "court" and that it will be decided whether the case will be referred to the "criminal court".
According to Mr. Essendagli, "there is no reason to worry about the case and the charge of insulting the moral personality of the security forces."
The case has been rescheduled for October 27, for witness testimony.
