The increase in coronavirus cases and the contacts that must remain limited, also affects the School Ephorates, which cover, so far, their needs with the available staff.
As the President of the Pancyprian Coordinating Committee of School Ephorates and President of the Ephorate of Greek Schools of Limassol, Dinos Ellinas, stated in KYPE, "with the chain of cases and contacts, the school ephorates are also affected, which cover their needs with replacements".
"If this increase continues and more employees need to be absent from work, then the services offered to cleaners, children with special needs and secretarial staff will be affected," he added.
He cited the Limassol School Ephorate as an example, from where about 20% of the employees are absent, who either have coronavirus disease or are in contact.
Specifically, he added, at present, out of the approximately 250 employees, 8 people are absent from public kindergartens, 10 Primary school cleaners, 15 Secondary school cleaners, 22 attendants and one person from the auxiliary secretarial staff.
In case there are gaps, he pointed out, then alternative solutions should be found to address the problem, either by purchasing services or in collaboration with other school boards.
