Before the District Court of Larnaca, a case was registered today against a minor, aged 16, who was allegedly the driver of a stolen vehicle that was involved in a traffic accident that occurred on the evening of November 13 on Artemis Avenue in Larnaca and resulted in the death of Giulia Mihaela Vasile , 18 years old, from Romania, permanent resident of Cyprus.
Information from the KYPE from the Police state that the minor is facing eight charges related to causing death by negligence, theft, conspiracy to commit a felony, leaving the scene and a series of traffic offenses, such as driving without a license and insurance and without wearing a seat belt.
It is noted that a separate case was registered against the 16-year-old for the theft of the vehicle he was allegedly driving that night.
The Court set December 29 for the minor to answer the charges against him, until then he will remain in custody in a specially designed area in the central prisons.
It is recalled that the fatal traffic collision occurred around 19.20:13 p.m. on November 16, when the car allegedly driven by the XNUMX-year-old, which was heading from the roundabout of the old GSZ towards the Faneromeni traffic lights on Artemis Avenue, deviated from its course to the left and hit consecutively on a traffic sign and two trees where and was immobilized.
The 18-year-old woman was in the back seat of the vehicle along with three other persons, while after the accident the driver and the passenger left the scene before the arrival of the Police.
The girl was fatally injured and was taken to Larnaca General Hospital where she was pronounced dead, while an 18-year-old man was also slightly injured.
It is noted that the 16-year-old was found and arrested the next day, while the 17-year-old passenger was found on Friday, November 15, but it seems that he is not related to the vehicle that was reported stolen at noon on the day of the fatal accident.
