The Police are investigating a case of extorting money with false representations, following a complaint made yesterday by the owner of a kiosk in Larnaca.
According to the complainant, around 4 yesterday afternoon she received a phone call from an unknown man who introduced himself to her as an employee of the company that supplies the particular stand with prepaid cards.
As the complainant reported, the unknown man asked her for the numbers of the prepaid cards she had at the stand, with a face value of €50, giving her the claim that they should be cancelled.
The owner of the kiosk, after being convinced, gave him the secret codes of 60 cards with a nominal value of €50, as a result of which the unknown man withdrew a sum of money of €3,000.
The Kiti Police Station is continuing the examinations.
