The Criminal Court of Nicosia convicted four persons, for a case related to securing registration with false representations, forgery, circulating a forged document and assisting the stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
Specifically, the penalties imposed are the following:
A fine of €450 to a 28-year-old
A 30-year-old woman was sentenced to one year in prison
3 years in prison for 59 years
5 years in prison for 45 years
The four cases above concerned asylum seekers (from Africa), who while waiting for their applications to be examined, became pregnant and with the help of their accomplices, they located Cypriots, who, for a fee, recognized the children as biological fathers.
The cases were investigated by the Anti-Trafficking Office, the TAE Nicosia and the H&M Headquarters.
