An announcement was issued by the staff of the Health Insurance Organization on the occasion of the departure of the Chairman of the Organization's Board of Directors, Mr. Thomas Antoniou.
Among other things, they state that Mr. Antoniou, for ten years, worked with zeal, selflessness and ethics.

In view of the departure of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Organization, Mr. Thomas Antoniou, the Management and Staff of the Organization feel the need to publicly thank him for his valuable contribution to the implementation and operation of the General Health System.
Mr. Antoniou, for 10 years, worked with zeal, selflessness and ethics. He stood by the Management team and the Staff of the Organization, supporting them throughout this period which was decisive for the achievement of the main goal: the implementation and operation of the National Health Service.
It is a fact that without the dedication that characterized Mr. Antoniou's path from the position of President of the Organization, GeSY would not have become a reality. Without his own frequent and significant battles, the Cypriot citizen could not today enjoy his most precious right, lifelong equal and unhindered access to health care services. GeSY is no longer that distant and unrealizable project as it was 10 years ago when Mr. Antoniou took over the helm of the Organization for the first time. GeSY is now a social conquest, an indication and proof of the importance that human dignity has in this world.
