The nurses finally accepted the proposal of the Organization of State Health Services (OKYPY) which provides that within this month there will be 100 recruitments of nurses in public hospitals while recruitment will continue in the coming months until September.
In his statements to KYPE, the Spokesman of the Pancyprian Nurses Guild (PASYNO) Theodoros Petelis said that "the immediate recruitment of the 100 nurses now is a great help, an injection to meet the urgent needs and we can wait for the next ones. will be completed by September ".
He said that the proposal was made yesterday afternoon in a meeting they had with OKYPY, where it was extensively analyzed and will help solve the existing problems.
The proposal, he noted, concerns the coverage of nursing staff for the immediate needs per hospital, the separation of ambulances as well as for the new needs that will arise either with services or with extensions of departments or with new departments.
The recruitment process, Mr. Petelis said, will begin immediately with a number of about 100 nurses within this month.
"Their proposal will be completed by September, where the full separation of the ambulance service will take place, while any new needs will be met," he added.
Evaluating the proposal, he continued, we consider it a good proposal, which tries to radically solve the problem of proper staffing and management of nursing staff in public hospitals.
"Only 100 nurses will be hired this month. The proposal says a gradual completion of the needs will take place in September. OKYPY will see the needs and will act accordingly ", he added.
Asked what is the total number of recruitments that will be made, Mr. Petelis stated that "we do not know the number, because the new needs are included. It also depends on OKYPY whether it will proceed at the end of the day with these new needs ".
