An attempted escape by a prisoner occurred this morning at the Limassol District Court, but he was stopped by members of the Police and taken to the detention center.
According to the Police, this is the 39-year-old who was arrested in connection with an under investigation case of burglary of a building, theft and malicious damage and was in court for the procedure of issuing a detention order.
The suspect, as reported by journalists, while he was outside the entrance to the courtroom, on the first floor of the building, allegedly initially attempted to run towards the stairs and then attempted to jump out of a window.
Members of the Police arrived and detained him and took him back to the detention center, while his detention process will be carried out without his presence.
The 39-year-old was arrested as a suspect in the context of an investigation into a burglary complaint, which occurred yesterday, by the owner of a recreation center, which is under renovation.
During the burglary, property worth approximately 2.000 euros was stolen, while damage was caused to the building's ventilation equipment, amounting to approximately 1.000 euros.
The 39-year-old was also arrested as part of an investigation into a second case, which was reported on the same day, concerning the theft of a coin acceptor, worth 3.000 euros, from a public parking lot in Limassol, near the specific premises.
