The Police are investigating a case of attempted murder against a 35-year-old man, which was committed last night in Larnaca.
Police officers went to the area of the village of Kiti around eight o'clock last night, following information about the detection of bloodstains on the pavement of a parking lot.
On the same day, shortly afterwards, information was received from Larnaca General Hospital that a 35-year-old man was transported for treatment, suffering from injuries from a sharp object.
The 35-year-old suffered a wound to his left shin, a deep wound to his right shoulder blade, as well as injuries to his right hand.
During the investigation of the case, while examinations at the scene were continuing, a passing suspicious vehicle, for which there was information that it was transporting the injured person to the hospital, was stopped by members of the Police for inspection.
The vehicle was driven by a 38-year-old man, with a 41-year-old woman as the passenger. When questioned verbally, the 38-year-old admitted that he had injured the 35-year-old with a knife.
Further examinations revealed that the 38-year-old resides illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and was arrested for the flagrant offense of illegal residence.
During the investigation at the scene, a knife was found in the parking lot, which was taken as evidence.
Additionally, it emerged that the vehicle driven by the alleged perpetrator belonged to the victim and that he himself transported the injured person to Larnaca General Hospital.
The injured man is being treated in the surgical department of Larnaca General Hospital, with his health condition considered serious but out of danger.
The 38-year-old was arrested on a warrant and taken into custody to facilitate inquiries.
