The 46-year-old woman is being treated in critical but stable condition at Nicosia General Hospital, who was allegedly shot on Sunday afternoon by her husband at their home, according to the Police.
The Paphos Crime Detection Department is investigating an attempted murder against a 46-year-old woman and the alleged perpetrator is her 57-year-old husband.
According to a spokesperson for the Police Headquarters' Communications Branch, at 17:40 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, the 46-year-old called the police, saying that her husband was going to kill her and giving her address. Members of the Pegeia police rushed to the scene and upon their arrival outside the yard of the house, they found a man standing and in possession of a hunting rifle, who allegedly confessed to the police that he shot his wife.
An arrest warrant was issued against the 57-year-old and he was arrested.
His wife was lying on the ground with injuries to her head and body. The 46-year-old was initially taken to Paphos General Hospital and after undergoing surgery was transferred to Nicosia Hospital. Her condition is described by the attending doctors as critical but stable.
Members of the Criminal Investigation Service arrived at the scene to conduct examinations.
Investigations into the case are ongoing.
