The dialogue between the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athina Michailidou, with the involved bodies regarding the transition from special to uniform and inclusive education began today.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Education, in the context of the dialogue, issues concerning the entire path of children in the education system, from early intervention and support to identification and early assessment, as well as the reasonable adjustments provided to these children, are discussed.
Also discussed is the necessity for training of all involved bodies, as well as the recruitment process and the qualifications that school assistants/attendants should have.
At the same time, emphasis is also placed on the importance of cooperation with co-competent Ministries, Deputy Ministries and Services for a more holistic treatment of the issue.
The aim is to record and codify practical measures for improvement and transition towards Unified/Inclusive Education, which, in the first phase, will be implemented from next September.
