The Statistical Service announces the start of the Earnings Survey, with a reference year of 2022, on May 25, 2023.

The Remuneration Survey is one of the largest surveys carried out by the Statistical Service and is conducted in accordance with the recommendations and methodologies of the Statistical Service of the EU (Eurostat), with the aim of studying the structure of employee remuneration using, among others, the following:

Estimate the general level of compensation of employees by hour, month and year
Study of the effect of various factors (gender, occupation, level of education, etc.) on employee earnings
Calculation of indicators such as the Gender Pay Gap
Comparison of earnings between different groups of employees (e.g. public/private sector, full/part-time etc.)
The Survey will cover 40.000 employees from 2.350 companies throughout Cyprus as well as government departments.

The collection and registration of data will be done by specially trained enumerators, with personal interviews in businesses, using portable computers. The enumerators will carry a special identity card of the Statistical Service, which will certify the authorization given to them to collect the data.

Data collection will be spread over a period of 7 months, from May 2023 to December 2023.

The research is conducted within the framework of the Official Statistics Law of 2021 (L.25(I)/2021) and in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EC) no. 1738/2005 of the European Commission. Based on the provisions of the Law, the provision of the data is mandatory. The Statistical Service is obliged to keep the data collected as confidential. The answers will be used exclusively for statistical purposes and no private person or public authority will be informed of the individual details of the companies or employees.

The Statistical Service warmly appeals to the businesses that have been randomly selected in the sample to cooperate with the enumerators who will visit them and to provide all the information that will be requested.
