Veterinary Services announce the start of implementation of the 2023-2025 Pan-Cypriot Sterilization Plan for Stray Cats, with a total cost of 300 thousand euros.
In their announcement, the Veterinary Services state that the implementation of the Plan will be undertaken by the District Veterinary Offices, with the help of the District Animal Welfare Committees and in collaboration with the Local Authorities and registered animal welfare organizations, following expressions of interest from these bodies.
They further explain that every Municipal and Community Council and every registered animal welfare organization, interested in participating in the Scheme, is invited to submit the relevant form by May 31, 2023 to the Veterinary Office of their Province.
In addition, the competent Services specify that individuals and unregistered groups, acting as volunteers, caring for several animals, can only participate through Local Government Authorities or registered animal welfare organisations.
They also note that the list of Local Government Authorities and animal welfare organizations that will participate in the Project will be posted on the website of the Veterinary Services.
They also invite all registered veterinarians in the private sector to register their interest in participating in the Pan-Cypriot Sterilization Scheme for Stray Cats.
Only registered veterinarians, who have veterinary clinics properly equipped in terms of surgery and post-operative care for cats, will participate in the Scheme.
The aim is to distribute sterilisations evenly across all veterinary clinics, regardless of the number of vets working in them.
In the meantime, they note that registered veterinarians, who do not have clinics, must declare the clinic in which they will perform the sterilizations, and submit together with their interest the relevant agreement of use/collaboration with the particular clinic.
In this context, all interested veterinarians are invited to declare to the Veterinary Office of the Province where they operate, their intention to participate in the Scheme, by submitting signed originals of all the required documents, by May 31st.
All relevant documents can be retrieved from the website of the Veterinary Services.
