The Pancyprian Examinations begin today, Friday, in which 5.119 candidates for the public universities of Cyprus and Greece will sit.
According to data from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, candidates who are final year students amount to 4.727, former graduates to 392, those who are candidates for access to Military Schools to 352 and those who requested facilities to 614.
The first subject in which candidates will be tested is Modern Greek, with English following on June 10. The Pancyprian Examinations will conclude on June 26 with Common Core Mathematics.
As announced on Wednesday, at the start of the Council of Ministers' session, the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, "all and sundry candidates for the Pancyprian Examinations will sit for exams in air-conditioned rooms. We have achieved this goal, 5.119 candidates will finally be examined in conditions befitting a modern European state," he said.
It is noted that this morning the Director General of the Ministry of Education, George Pantelis, the Director of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training, Elias Markatjis, the Director of Higher Education, Terpsa Konstantinidou, the Director of Secondary General Education, Nikolas Giasoumis, and the Head of the Examinations Service, Dimitris Chandriotis, will visit the Archbishop Makarios III Lyceum - Dasoupoli, on the occasion of the start of the Pancyprian Examinations.
According to data from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, the subjects with the most candidates are Modern Greek (5.119), Special Mathematics (2.919), Physics (2.282), English (2.060), Common Core Mathematics (1.944), Biology (1.488) and Economics (1.306). The courses with the fewest candidates are English 4-hour Technical Schools (293), Latin (249), Ancient Greek (238), the Practical Test (Special Examination) (204), Russian (189), Free - Perspective Drawing (183), Digital Electronics II Technical Schools (Theoretical Direction) (140) and Architectural - Technical Drawing (135).
