The lawyers of Archimandrite Nektarios Georgios and Archimandrite Porphyrios Ttoulos have issued a new announcement regarding what has come to light about the Abvakum Monastery. According to the announcement, the two monks categorically deny the commission of any ecclesiastical and/or criminal offences.
This announcement:
On behalf of Archimandrite Nektarios Georgios and Archimandrite Porphyrios Ttoulos, a written notice has been sent to the Holy Synod, that the above-mentioned clerics categorically deny the commission of any ecclesiastical and/or criminal offenses and submitted a request in accordance with the Charter of the Church of Cyprus, as summoned at a hearing and appear in person at a hearing.
In addition, they demanded from the Holy Synod to proceed and faithfully apply the rules of the ecclesiastical criminal procedure since the aforementioned clerics categorically deny their involvement in any crimes. Pointing out that their removal without a proper investigation and hearing is against the Regulations and the Charter of the Church of Cyprus and they demanded the postponement of tomorrow's (08/03/2024) hearing.
