Over 3,104 traffic violations were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out by members of the Police, throughout Cyprus, from the following: 13/01/2025 until 19/01/2025.
Police officers, in the context of traffic controls carried out throughout Cyprus, filed 1,108 complaints regarding exceeding the speed limit, 124 complaints for failure to use seat belts by drivers and passengers, 13 complaints for failure to use a protective helmet and 205 complaints for using a mobile phone while driving. In addition, 62 complaints were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol, 36 complaints for illegal parking, 28 for parking in disabled spaces and 1,528 complaints for committing other traffic offences.
Additionally, within the framework of traffic controls, 21 complaints arose regarding drug tests, 84 car seizures and 17 two-wheeled vehicle seizures.
Traffic police checks continue daily, aiming to prevent fatal and serious traffic collisions, as well as to instill proper road awareness among all road users.
