Police: Arrests and 339 complaints in one night

The presence and action of the Police was intense last night, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols being carried out in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the public's sense of security.

The result of the preventive police operations was the arrest of two people, for various offenses, including the illegal possession of duty-free products and domestic violence.

During the night, 473 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 568 drivers and passengers were checked. In parallel, 42 inspections of premises were carried out, resulting in 3 complaints.

During the traffic checks carried out, 339 complaints were made for various traffic violations, of which 117 concerned speeding. A total of 56 alcohol tests were carried out, during which two drivers tested positive. Three preliminary drug tests were also carried out, during which one driver tested positive. Also, as part of the police checks, 10 vehicles were seized.

Policing operations to prevent and suppress crime continue daily, with enhanced police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action, with the aim of protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
