Need to take new effective measures - Everything is evaluated
The explosion of cases in the last 24 hours in football and especially in Ethnikos and Nea Salamina where the incidents in both teams were raised to 39 (20 Ethnikos -19 Nea Salamina) brings a chaotic situation in our league and the need to take new effective measures.
Today at 09:00 in the morning it will take place at the Ministry of Health Extraordinary summit meeting between Minister Konstantinos Ioannou and KOP delegation at the highest level. There, the current situation after the increase of cases will be evaluated, especially in Ethniko and N. Salamina. As we are informed, the current health protocol will come to the fore.
On Wednesday, the KOP was in a permanent meeting with the scientific team of the Federation that deals with the protocol of a match. It is not ruled out that measures will be taken tomorrow, including the frequency of tests on football teams. At this stage there are no signs of stopping the tournament except for taking action.
It is noted that in Larnaca decisions were made to hold games behind closed doors. It is not ruled out that an issue may arise for indoor matches in all stadiums. 1500 tests will also be performed immediately in the small categories.
KOP spokesman Konstantinos Siamboullis told us that the meeting aims to examine the current situation. As he said, everything will be put on the table and decisions will be made that will be officially announced.
It will require faithful implementation of protocols
As we are informed, the scientific team under the president Dr. Petros Agathangelou will request the faithful implementation of the protocols which are characterized as exceptional. The scientific team will ask for all the members of the teams to be disciplined so that there are no phenomena like the ones we are experiencing in the last 24 hours. The issue of stopping the tournament will not be discussed according to the same information in today's meeting.
