The targeted preventive operations of the Police continued last night, with a reinforced presence in key points in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, protecting citizens and ensuring public order.
As part of these operations, the Police arrested ten people for various offenses, as follows:
• Arrest of four persons residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.
• Arrest of two people in connection with a domestic violence case.
• Arrest of a person for failure to appear in Court.
• Arrest of two people for possession of burglar tools.
• Arrest of a person for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a traffic collision (damages only).
During the night, 397 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 97 persons were checked. In parallel, 30 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of preventing and suppressing criminal behavior.
The traffic checks carried out resulted in 147 complaints regarding various traffic violations, of which eight concerned driving under the influence of alcohol. The total number of alcohol checks on vehicle drivers amounted to 189. At the same time, in the context of investigating traffic offenses, 19 vehicles were seized.
These operations are part of a broad, ongoing and strengthened preventive plan of the Police, with increased police presence, targeted checks and direct operational action in all provinces, with the aim of preventing crime and enhancing citizens' sense of security.
