Paphos Police arrested a 61-year-old man on Monday to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of abuse and mistreatment of a dog, according to Paphos Assistant Police Director of Operations Michalis Nikolaou.
As Mr. Nikolaou reported, the 61-year-old was transferred to the Paphos Public Prosecutor's Office where he is being questioned.
Meanwhile, the 30-year-old dog owner, who had been arrested for facilitating investigations in connection with an ongoing animal abuse case in Pegeia, was released on Sunday without being charged.
According to the history of the case, the dog was accidentally discovered by a woman in a trash can in Pegeia, who subsequently filed a complaint on Friday evening.
The animal is being treated at a veterinary clinic and is in poor condition.
Police investigations continue.
