A vehicle driven in Paphos yesterday Tuesday by a sixteen-year-old, without a driver's license and insurance coverage, was involved in a traffic accident, with the minor leaving the scene of the road collision.

Specifically, according to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, the 16-year-old from Paphos was driving the vehicle on Hellados Avenue in a southerly direction.

Under circumstances that are being investigated at some point on the road, his vehicle collided with a car driven by a 30-year-old woman who was leaving the supermarket parking lot.

The minor left the scene of the accident, but the registered owner of the vehicle, who is the 16-year-old's father, was located.

Investigations are being conducted into the circumstances under which the minor had taken the vehicle and was driving it, as well as into the causes of the road collision, according to Mr. Nikolaou.

In the meantime, as part of a coordinated operation to prevent road traffic collisions carried out in Paphos from Tuesday at 06:00 in the morning until 06:00 in the morning today, 56 traffic complaints were made.

Of the 56 traffic complaints, Mr. Nikolaou said, one related to driving under the influence of alcohol, one to driving under the influence of drugs and 22 to driving at excessive speed.

Coordinated operations to prevent traffic collisions will continue, he concluded.
