In a coordinated operation by the Police, in collaboration with officers from the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labor, a total of 13 people were identified working illegally in the areas of Astromeritis, Peristerona, Evrychou, Galata and Kakopetria, in four different businesses, and were arrested.
According to the Police, as part of the actions to combat illegal and undeclared employment, a coordinated Police operation was carried out yesterday morning, in collaboration with officers from the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labor.
The 13 people were arrested for flagrant offenses and taken to a police station for further examinations. Four of these individuals were residing in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus illegally, it is reported.
Six individuals were spotted outside a building and, in the presence of members of the Police, fled. They were stopped and found to be residing illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, resulting in their arrest as well.
Officers from the Inspection Service of the Ministry of Labor found violations and issued the employers (who will be charged at a later stage) with a notice of violation for undeclared work.
The Police, in collaboration with the competent Services, will continue targeted inspections, aiming to combat illegal and undeclared employment, it is reported.
