There is a stir in the ranks of the Police after the murders of Kalogeropoulos and Mavromichalis. The former Deputy Chief of Police Christakis Mavris was hosted at Mesimeri and Kati.
He initially stated that it is clear that the murders are connected to the underworld. "I don't know if they are connected, it's a matter of information."
He added that it is not called to have a continuation of the murders. "Each victim group will want revenge. They'll want to show they haven't lost control. Maybe some will want to fill the void."
Mr. Mavris noted that the world is rightly concerned. "We see this phenomenon in many countries. The Police is doing a job and can certainly improve more."
He added that the Police should focus on gathering and evaluating information. "Most recently the Chief of Police upgraded the intelligence gathering service to a Sub-Division to make it work better."
When asked if the Police should increase the guarding of targets like Alexis Mavromichalis, he said that the guarding of people is done depending on the information available.
