The residents of ten communities in the province of Nicosia are in despair, with the decision to move the asphalt factory in Mitsero.

In their announcement, the BoDs state that next Friday, November 12, they will proceed with a protest by abstaining from the lessons of the first period, outside the schools. The protest will be attended by schools from the affected villages: Mitserou, Agrokipia, Menikos, Orountas, Agios Ioannis, Aredios, Agios Epifanios, Kalo Chorio Orini, Kliros, Malountas, Agia Marina.

The BoD of the Parents' Associations of the Affected Communities decided in protest of the decision to move the asphalt plant Prometheas Asphalt Ltd next to our homes and schools, as we proceed to abstain from the lessons of the first period 7: 45-8: 25 next Friday, November 12.

During the abstention from the lessons, the children accompanied by at least one parent / guardian will remain outside the school premises in a place that will be determined by the Board of each Parents' Association.

We call on all parents to support the protest with their presence on their children's side, to give a thunderous message that we will not allow our children to breathe the toxic substances of an asphalt. Asphalt has no place in our area, which is already burdened with 100 annoying activities. Our children have an inalienable right to live in a clean environment free of harmful substances. We will not allow anyone to further degrade the quality of life of our children, who already breathe the dust from the 6 quarries as well as the unbearable smells from the livestock units and the sewage.
