A clarifying announcement regarding the new decree of the Minister of Health dated 28/11/2020 (KDP564 / 2020) and 16/11/2020 (KDP531 / 2020), was issued by the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA).

Specifically, the Cyprus Sports Organization, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, regarding the new decree of the Minister of Health dated 28/11/2020 (KDP564 / 2020) and 16/11/2020 (KDP531 / 2020), which was put in place today until December 13, 2020 at 23.59 p.m. In application, it clarifies that the operation of the swimming pools is allowed only for use by persons with disabilities for therapeutic exercise or for training up to 4 adults, including the coach, regardless of the level of competition.

Recalls that, given the suspension of gyms on a Cypriot basis (with the exception provided for in the relevant decree and listed below), swimming pools that are part of the gym facility can operate (for adults and children) in accordance with the restrictions apply to swimming pools.

It also clarifies that the suspension of the operation of the gyms on a Cypriot basis, excludes personal training and / or training in these facilities, provided that the participants do not exceed two people, including the trainer / coach.

Notes that the two persons in terms of facilities that have different rooms / areas of fitness / training (eg weight room, pilates room, room of other programs) are allowed per room / space (presence of trainer per room / space) in compliance with the relevant protocols and without coming into contact with each other.

Reminds that the use of locker rooms (showers, common area, benches) is prohibited.

The CMO also states that team training and competitions are only allowed for teams participating in the A, B, and C category leagues and the National Teams in compliance with the relevant protocols issued by the Sports Federations and which have been approved by the Ministry of Health.

In addition, it clarifies that it is allowed to train high-performance athletes, who are included in the list of the Cyprus Sports Organization with the participation of up to 4 people, including the coach, such as athletes who have secured or are eligible for the Olympic Games and / in the High Performance and Talent Plans of the Cyprus Sports Organization.

Notes that training and / or coaching in sports schools by adult athletes and the use of organized sports facilities (open and closed), with a minimum size of 100 square meters, by persons or groups of up to four (4) persons, including the coach , without the use of locker rooms and without the presence of spectators, while for indoor sports facilities smaller than 100 square meters only two people are allowed, including the coach / coach.

It also clarifies that gyms that may be located inside these facilities can be used when participants do not exceed two people, including the trainer / coach.

The CMO states that the sports activity (training and sports events) of children under 18 is suspended.

Notes, however, that individual training of team and individual sports (2 people including the coach) is allowed without contact and / or team play and faithfully observing the provisions of the relevant decrees of the Ministry of Health and the Protocols issued by the Sports and Federations which have been approved by the Ministry of Health.

The COM emphasizes that violation of the terms of the decrees constitutes a criminal offense and the police will deal with the relevant complaints and adds, finally, that these instructions are complementary and do not replace the obligations imposed by the Law on Disinfection and the relevant Decrees issued.
