A new Primary School will be built in Aradippou, following a decision taken today at the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, with Minister Dr. Athina Michailidou giving "the green light" for the development of the new school.
In a statement from the Municipality of Aradippou, it is stated that the meeting was held today at the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, in which the Minister Athena Michailidou, the Mayor of Aradippou Christodoulos Partou, MPs of Larnaca and the School Ephorate of Aradippou participated.
"During the meeting, it was decided to build the 6th Primary School in a row in Aradippou, with the Minister of Education giving the green light for the development of the public school", it is noted.
In his statements, Mayor Aradippou said that "education was my central pre-election priority". "The need for the improvement of our school units, but also for the construction of new ones, became imperative with the rapid increase in the population in Aradippou", he said.
Today, he continued, "is a very important day for us, as we received from the Ministry of Education all the necessary commitments for the start of construction of a new and modern Primary School, which will support primary education accommodation in the Municipality of Aradippou".
"However, the discussions and meetings with the Ministry of Education do not stop here" he said and noted that "the need for school accommodation for the 2nd Gymnasium of Aradippou has already entered planning", noted the Mayor.
Mr. Partou "warmly thanked the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Dr. Athina Michailidou, for her practical interest, immediately providing a solution to a chronic issue".
He also expressed his gratitude to "all the Larnaka MPs, the Aradippou School Board and those who supported the Municipality's proposal for the construction of a new modern Primary School in Aradippou, which is a necessity and a vital project for the region".
According to the announcement "for the construction of the school, the preparation of the project note for approval by the Ministry of Finance has begun, while geographically it is estimated to be built in the Vergina area".
