The Municipality of Paphos has announced its decision regarding the ban on the circulation of scooter-type personal mobility devices on the Municipality's public roads, with the exception of approved cycle paths and cycle lanes, in accordance with the Law on the Regulation of the Traffic of Bicycles and Other Personal Mobility Devices.
According to the announcement of the Municipality of Paphos, the decision, taken by the plenary session of the Municipal Council on October 7, 2024, aims to reduce risks and promote safety in the city of Paphos.
As reported, drivers of scooter-type personal mobility devices found to be breaking the law will be reported by the Traffic Police, which will be responsible for enforcing the new regulations in public spaces. At the same time, scooters left unattended on any street or sidewalk will be confiscated by the Municipality of Paphos, and their owners will be charged with additional penalties and procedures for the recovery of the devices.
The Municipality of Paphos calls on citizens to comply with the decision of the Municipal Council and to use only the spaces expressly permitted by law. In this way, they will contribute to the protection of road safety in our city, concludes the announcement.
