On the show Mesimeri, the president of POASO, Kostas Ioannou, spoke about something, who was asked to answer whether public servants really want to be paid in advance for Christmas.

Mr. Ioannou stated that they are not advance payments, there was simply a great discussion in the past where various attempts were made to abolish the 13th salary, which has been made clear that it is a kind of savings that employees have, a part that the employer retains and returns to them at the end of time.

He added that this salary helps them cope with the increased needs they have in December due to the holidays.

"Our position was self-evident in the mind of anyone who wants to think logically, that if I am paid the 13th salary, in the first fortnight I will be able to move comfortably, organize myself, do my shopping and you give the impetus to the market that so expects to moves", he noted.

In closing, he said that people cannot spend without this money and they suggest to the Ministry of Finance that you give civil servants this salary in the middle of the month so that they can move.
