A two-hour work stoppage, on Monday, October 9, 2023, from 10:00 to 12:00, has been announced by the Branch Council of Lifeguards of the All-Cyprus Union Equality, demanding "permanent and stable jobs".
The reasons for the work stoppage, according to a statement from the Lifeguard Branch Council, are "the illegal practice of terminating open-ended contracts and renewing them every year, as detailed in our recent letter to the Home Office".
Also, the Branch Council of Lifeguards requests the placement of a Lifeguard supervisor and "the removal of existing unqualified persons from positions of responsibility".
Finally, he calls on all lifeguards to join the strike en masse to claim their just demands, as he says.
