The 59-year-old alleged perpetrator of the double murder that took place yesterday in Ergates is being brought to justice today, Friday.

Yesterday he underwent a psychiatric examination and was judged to be able to attend the proceedings before the Court.

The victims of the double murder, which was committed shortly after 06.00 yesterday morning, are his wife and one of his sons. They are 52-year-old Androula Avraxidou and 20-year-old Stelios Giagkou.

The 59-year-old allegedly injured his other son, 25 years old, who was transported by ambulance to the Nicosia General Hospital for treatment.
The revelation that the alleged suspect at the age of 15 was also involved in another murder, with a 10-year-old victim, also causes shock.

Speaking on SIGMA's "Protoselido" show, the Police Spokesman, Christos Andreou, stated that he had not been convicted of the 1976 murder, due to his age.

According to him, the pre-trial detention of the suspect will take place today, however, there are some difficulties as the 59-year-old is being treated and due to the pandemic, a special procedure will have to be performed.
