In his intervention on the show "Protoselido" of Sigma, Dr. Karagiannis commented that the opening of the schools was a decision taken by the Ministry.
He went on to say, "Let the parents and teachers decide what they want", unable to understand the reactions. He also explained that any problems that arise with teachers, should go to the Ministry.
Regarding the public hospitals and the situation there, he said that the deaths we have are related to the Delta mutation. He added that only 6 patients in whom the Omicron mutation is observed are being treated, to conclude that despite the high number of cases, there was no pressure on the health system.
Fourth dose
On the issue of the 4th dose, he stated that he intends to observe the levels of immunity. If the immunity of individuals falls in closed structures then, the possibility of taking a 4th dose should be discussed.
He also referred to the peak of the epidemiological curve, commenting that such a thing is always possible.
He added that the positive incidents are decreasing and if Cyprus continues like this, there will be an even greater reduction.

Dr. Karagiannis was also asked about the discovery of Dr. Kostrikis. He said that they were informed about his findings last Tuesday. He went on to say characteristically, "Due to the publicity and the comments made by some, there is a doubt whether this is a really mutated strain, I prefer to see the data and decide."
