The front page hosted the member of the epidemiological team of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Zoe Dorothea Pana, who spoke about the high daily cases, while explaining why Christmas is a dangerous period.

He initially said the measures needed time to work. "We see a tense but stabilized situation."

He added that the arrival of Christmas is frightening, as there may be an outbreak of the pandemic. "At this time, people will have a behavior that we do not want," he said.

He pointed out that Cyprus has done well in dealing with the pandemic and that it understands the fatigue of the people from the ongoing measures. He explained that Cyprus is one of the countries that carries out a lot of sampling, with the result that the epidemiological data are more reliable.

As for the possibility of a lockdown, he stressed that all the data is being processed, adding that they will try to avoid it. "The existing measures need some more time for their operation to become transparent."

At the same time, he asked for patience from the people, adding that things will be better after the winter.

Speaking about schools, he explained that they follow the community and are a factor that can contribute to the deterioration of the situation.
Finally, he stated that as an epidemiological team they do not know the decisions that will be taken, emphasizing that so far discussions are taking place.
