At noon and something was hosted the member of the epidemiological team of the Ministry of Health, dr. Zoe-Dorothea Pana, who spoke about the epidemiological picture of the country, while she stated that on the day of the episodes in Limassol, a doctor suffering from coronavirus had lost his life.

He initially said that the key word in such situations is solidarity. He added that the anger that the citizen feels when he is pressured for so many months and feels the injustice in everyday life is completely understandable. "We have to understand that this situation is very critical and everyone's goal is to try to control it before we see worse images."

He added that repression or social irresponsibility may lead to phenomena that will affect every family in Cyprus as well.
Dr. Pana revealed that on the day of the incidents in Limassol, a young doctor with three children had died. "We are tired and we feel phobic as a result of such behaviors, but we must understand that the state is us."

He stressed that winter is difficult and everyone must understand the result of a gathering of 1000 people. "There was no targeting of the area, but we wanted to help the area so that the outbreak does not spread throughout Cyprus."

Then Dr. He also spoke about the operation of the measures, explaining that it takes 15 days to be effective. "The burden of the disease in some areas is very large so it will take a long time."

He clarified that there is stabilization. "We have shown that the transmissibility index has fallen, and now we are waiting to see whether the events that took place in Limassol will affect the epidemiological picture."

At the same time, he said that they expect the people to understand the situation. "Even if the measures work, we have our minds on the Hospitals."
As for the measures taken by countries such as China and Taiwan, he explained that they have completely different mechanisms of epidemic management due to their experience, while adding that they followed a different strategy. "China has very good control systems and a different regime for enforcing the measures. "Europe is taking a different approach."

Finally, he said that Europe is taking initiatives to improve its preparations for such events. "There are enough volunteers, so let's all work together to speed up the process to control the situation."
