The Police arrested three people, aged 25, 27 and 33, yesterday in the context of an ongoing case of conspiracy to commit a felony, aiding and abetting illegal entry and assisting an illegal immigrant to enter and remain in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

Specifically, at around 9.30pm on 25 May 2025, the Police received information about the crossing of a number of migrants from the occupied areas to the free areas from an uncontrolled point in the Nicosia district. Members of the Green Line Surveillance Sub-Directorate went to the area, where they located a total of ten persons. As it was found, they were illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and were arrested and taken to the Pera Chorio Police Station.

From the examinations that followed, testimony was obtained against three of the above individuals, for assisting third-country nationals to illegally enter and reside in Cyprus. Arrest warrants were therefore issued against them, pursuant to which they were arrested to facilitate the investigations.

This morning they were brought before the Nicosia District Court, which issued an eight-day detention order against them.

The Pera Chorio Police Station continues the examinations.
