The Police made seven arrests on Monday night, as part of organized patrols in key points in urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the public's sense of security.
In a Police announcement, it is stated that the result of the preventive policing operations was the arrest of seven persons for various offenses, such as causing grievous bodily harm, illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, illegal possession of property and illegal possession of narcotics.
Furthermore, it is noted that in the context of these operations, during the night, 565 drivers and passengers were stopped and checked. In parallel, 25 checks of premises were carried out, with the aim of addressing phenomena of delinquency, during which 2 complaints arose.
During the traffic controls that were carried out, 176 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations, while 11 cases of traffic violations were also investigated.
According to the Police, of the complaints made, 69 were reported by drivers for exceeding the speed limit. As part of the police examinations, 6 vehicles were seized.
"Coordinated policing operations to prevent and suppress crime continue daily, with increased/enhanced police presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action, with the aim of increasing citizens' sense of security/protecting citizens and ensuring public order," the Police notes in its announcement.
