Arrest of a passenger for illegal drug transportation at Larnaca Airport.
Specifically, officers of the Customs Department, after evaluating information and in collaboration with officers of the Cyprus Immigration Service at Larnaca Airport, stopped for inspection a 25-year-old passenger with Australian citizenship, who arrived in Cyprus from Thailand via the United Arab Emirates.
During the X-ray examination of the passenger's luggage, there was evidence that its contents may have been drugs.
During the physical check that followed, cannabis with a total gross weight of 23 kilograms and 154 grams was detected.
The passenger was arrested for flagrante delicto and the drugs were confiscated by Customs Department officers.
Later, both the passenger and the drugs were handed over to the Larnaca Airport Anti-Crime Unit for further investigation of the case.
