The Municipality of Polis Chrysochous organized a protest event today at noon in the courtyard of the City Hall regarding the understaffing of the Hospital and the Police Station of Chrysochous.

The protest was attended by MPs from the Paphos district, community leaders, organized groups, institutions, citizens and residents of the P. Chrysochous district, supporting the protest and joining their voice in the demand that the State immediately resolve these two burning issues.

Speaking to reporters, the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous, Giotis Papachristofi, said that "unfortunately, once again we call on the people of Polis Chrysochous to protest against the understaffing of the local police station and the Polis Chrysochous Hospital, resulting in the loss of life."

"The promises made to us from previous years and in the previous meetings we had with the Ministers and the officials, unfortunately have not been fulfilled, and today we are forced to call on the people here to protest," he said.

Mr. Papachristofi also stated that "it is not possible with a three-person shift to call the local police station to cover an area of ​​a Municipality and 30 communities and to control and hold police detention centers".

We feel, he continued, complete insecurity. On this he added, the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous sent a letter to the President of the Republic, "because they can not find anywhere else to understand them".

He also expressed the hope, as this time, that the PD will respond and staff the Polis Chrysochous police station properly.

Regarding the understaffing of P. Chrysochous Hospital, he said that the only cardiologist and the two specialist doctors have been transferred to Paphos and Limassol Hospitals to help the units. COVID-19. In addition, he referred to the non-manning of the chemist and the radiologist at the Polis Chrysochous Hospital but also to the ambulance crew with all the negative consequences.

He expressed the hope that "on December 14, when the Minister of Health will visit Polis Chrysochous, he will resolve all these issues".
