The Police last night arrested a 31-year-old man, to facilitate investigations, in relation to a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal possession and use of drugs, illegal possession of property, etc.
According to the data under consideration, shortly after nine in the evening, members of the Police (OPE Limassol), located in an open space in Limassol, a suspicious parked vehicle, in which two persons were riding.
The driver of the vehicle, when he noticed the members of the Police who approached him for a check, started his vehicle and after developing dizzying speed he tried to escape.
At some point the car came to a dead end, where the two occupants abandoned it and started running to escape.
The members of the Police succeeded in stopping the 31-year-old driver of the vehicle, who threw a shoulder bag in his possession to the ground.
From the tests that followed, it was found that the bag contained dry plant matter of cannabis weighing approximately 13.7 grams, as a result of which the 31-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime.
Also, two watches, a crucifix and a ring were found inside the purse, for which the arrested person did not give a satisfactory explanation of their origin.
From further tests carried out, it was found that the said car used by the 31-year-old and with different registration plates, had been reported stolen on 24/4/2023, at Nicosia Police Station.
A search of the vehicle revealed various electrical as well as burglary tools.
The TAE, YKAN and the Limassol Traffic Police are continuing the examinations.
