The Speaker of the Parliament and President of the Republic Annita Dimitriou conveyed her condolences on the death of the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos to the Holy Synod and his relatives.

Mrs. Dimitriou visited the Archbishopric in the morning, announcing at the same time the holding of an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers on how the State will honor, in consultation with the Church, the blessed Archbishop.

In her statements to the Holy Archdiocese, the President of the Parliament said that the Church of Cyprus is mourning, Cyprus is mourning, the flock is mourning. "The Archbishop of Cyprus Mr. Chrysostomos was a very important ecclesiastical figure and not only that, our sadness is great. We are here to officially express our sincere condolences to his family, relatives and of course to the Holy Synod," he said.

The President of the Parliament said that the Holy Synod will announce and then there will be a related announcement on how the State will honor the Archbishop.

Answering a question, he said that there will also be an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, which will be announced when everything is ready.
