The local authorities have placed residents of three communities in Paphos, Timi, Achelia, and Mantrion, under house arrest following instructions from the Civil Defense.
According to the Deputy Mayor of Timi, Giorgos Polykarpou, clear instructions have been given for the residents of Timi and neighboring communities to remain confined to their homes and not to move outside of them.
Mr. Polykarpou also mentioned that it was a difficult time due to the end of classes at the Timi Regional Primary School, which serves many communities, and that is why local authorities had to rush to help students and parents go home.
Meanwhile, the alert at Paphos Airport has ended, while the transition of its employees to the Airport premises is gradually beginning.
In a post on X, the Ministry of Interior states that "following information received from the National Guard, instructions were given for the evacuation of the Akrotiri Municipal District and Paphos Airport."
"A precautionary directive was also issued for the residents of the Timi Communities to limit unnecessary travel and remain in their homes. Announcements will be issued for any other directive deemed necessary," it added.
