One death and over 3 thousand new cases of coronavirus in Cyprus

211 patients COVID-19 of which 60 are in serious condition. 76,78% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

The Ministry of Health announces that today, February 1 2022:

- 1 death from the disease was announced COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 734.

- 211 patients COVID-19 of which 60 are in serious condition. 76,78% of patients do not have a history of vaccination.

- 20 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases), continue to be hospitalized in intubated condition due to COVID in an Intensive Care Unit.

- A total of 113,862 disease detection tests have been performed by the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid detection method (antigen rapid test).

- 3,038 (positivity rate: 2,67%) new cases of the disease COVID-19 detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), raising the total number of cases in 259,784.

The current results are detailed.

A. Deaths from the disease COVID-19:

The 1st death reported with the ultimate cause of death being attributed to the disease COVID-19, it's about:

- Woman, aged 77, who ended up on February 1 at Paphos General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the ultimate cause of the disease COVID-19 amounts to 734, of which:

458 men (62,4%), and

- 276 women (37,6%).

The average age of those who die from the disease is 76,3 years.

B. Patients:

In total, 211 patients of the disease are treated in the hospitals of OKYPY COVID-19, of which 60 in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 60 patients in serious condition, 29 are intubated, 4 are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 27 to an intensive care unit.

 C. Positive incidents Covid-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 113,862 diagnoses made, 6,146 were made by molecular method (PCR) and 107,716 by the method of antigen rapid test, 3038 cases of the disease were identified. COVID-19, which emerged as follows:

  • 107 cases from 557 samples taken through the process of tracking contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 64 cases of 2,694 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 326 cases from 2,380 samples taken through private initiative.
  • 40 cases from 344 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1,512 cases from 45,908 samples tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 984 cases from 61,808 samples examined by the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
  • 5 cases from 170 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.

In addition, the following tests were performed, without detecting a case:

  • 0 cases from 1 sample taken as part of tests on closed structures.
