The enrollment of students for the school year 2022-2023 in Public Kindergartens and Primary Schools, will take place from 10 to 14 January 2022.
According to the Ministry of Education, registrations will be conducted without the physical presence of parents / guardians, in the same way as last year. That is, applications for transfer will be submitted by parents / guardians only to schools in their district during the enrollment period.
Immediately after the registration period, each school will send these applications to the relevant District Education Office, no later than January 18, 2022.
The instructions
1. REGISTRATION TIME
* The enrollment of students for the school year 2022-2023 in Public Kindergartens and Primary Schools, will take place from 10 to 14 January 2022.
* There will be no new enrollment period, except for students who for a reasonable reason could not enroll during the above time period.
* No school will approve additional sections from those resulting from the January registrations (January 10-14, 2022). Therefore, those parents / guardians who do not enroll their children in January will be required to enroll them in the nearest school in their area, where there will be vacancies.
* After January 14, 2022, those students who apply for new enrollment or transfer to schools, should contact the relevant District Office of Education (EGP). The E.G.P. will inform the affected schools about new enrollments or transfers.
* The Unified All-Day Schools (EOS) have compulsory attendance until 15:05 or until 16:00 (except Wednesday where the hours are 7:45 to 13:05). There is only one departure schedule for all their students of each EOS. Those parents / guardians who can not adhere to this schedule, should apply for enrollment / transfer to another school, within the enrollment / transfer schedules (January 10-14, 2022).
* For the above, all interested parents / guardians should be informed by letter.
2. REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
2.1 Students who during the current school year attend:
* in the grades AD - ED Primary
* in Compulsory Pre-Primary Education (ie children with date of birth 1/9/2016 - 31/12/2016)
* in the Kindergarten of their educational district and have a date of birth 1/1/2017 - 31/12/2017.
For the above categories of students, the following registration / transfer procedure is followed:
* January 10, 2022: The schools send to the parents / guardians, through the children, a form for Registration Declaration (sample form is attached). The schools that operate with Cycle A and B, additionally send, the form DDE 11 for the children of the third grade.
* 11-12 January 2022: Parents / guardians fill out the form and send it, through their children, back to school. The children of the DG class (in the schools of Cycle A and B) also submit the completed DDE form 11.
* January 13, 2022: Schools check the forms they have collected to see if all parents / guardians have responded. Otherwise, a reminder is made, so that by January 17, 2022 at the latest, all the forms are returned to the school.
At the same time, schools are checking enrollment forms to see if there are any parents / guardians wishing to transfer their child. In these cases, the new TDI form 33 is forwarded to the specific parents / guardians, through their children.
* Until January 17, 2022: All Registration Declarations are returned to the school, the DDE 11 forms (for the children of the DG class) and the DDE 33 forms (for the children who request a transfer).
2.2 Students who will enroll for the first time in the specific Public Kindergarten or Primary School.
For the above students, the following registration / transfer procedure is followed:
* 10-14 January 2022: Parents / guardians submit to the school of their educational district, in a sealed envelope, all the necessary forms / certificates / documents for the registration of their child (see relevant paragraph 5 and APPENDIX A) and the application for transfer (if they wish to transfer).
* The school makes sure in advance that there is a special box in the schoolyard or other protected area of the school, for parents / guardians to place their applications.
* In the same area, there will be the necessary forms for registration (form DDE 11) and for transfer (new form DDE 33) for parents / guardians who do not have access to the internet.
* Strictly adhering to all applicable health protocols, parents / guardians come to the site having completed, in advance, all the necessary forms just to throw the envelope in the box and leave.
* January 10-14, 2022: The school studies all applications for registration / transfer and communicates, by phone, with all parents / guardians:
- to confirm the registration of the child,
- to provide any information / data that has not been provided / provided,
- to inform the parents / guardians that their application for transfer will be forwarded to the relevant District Education Office and as soon as the school has any information it will inform them.
* Until January 17, 2022: Any data / certificates that were not submitted with the application for registration / transfer are submitted to the school.
3. RIGHT TO REGISTER
* All children, of any nationality, residing in Cyprus have the right to register, regardless of the legal or illegal stay of their parents / guardians on the island.
* Children born from the 1st of September 2017 until the 31st of December 2017 are accepted for enrollment in the Compulsory Pre-Primary Education.
* Children born from the 1st of September 2016 until the 31st of August 2017 are accepted for enrollment in the Pre-Primary class.
* Children born from the 1st of September 2015 until the 31st of August 2016 are accepted for enrollment in the XNUMXst grade.
* Applications for enrollment in Public Kindergartens can also be submitted by children born from January 1, 2018 until August 31, 2019.
4. EDUCATIONAL REGIONS
* The revised educational districts for the school year 2022-2023, have been posted on the website of the Ministry of Education, in order to check the addresses of the residences of the students, which are presented for registration (http: / /www.moec.gov.cy/dde/ekpaideftikes_perifereies_2022_23.html).
* All new students are enrolled in the Kindergarten or Primary School of their district, even if a parent / guardian intends to request a transfer.
* Applications for transfer are submitted by the parents / guardians of the students to the school of their district, during the enrollment period. Then, the schools forward the PDE forms 33 together with APPENDIX C, to the relevant E.G.P, by hand, until January 18, 2022. Where the number of forms is limited (1 - 3 applications), they can forwarded, together with ANNEX C, by fax or e-mail.
In these cases, the original forms are kept at the school, until a decision is made by the relevant E.G.P.
* In the case of students who have older siblings in Primary School
School, which are in grades AD-ED, in the current school year, and are interested in enrolling (a) in the Kindergarten adjacent to the specific Primary School or (b) in the specific Primary School, enrolling in case it is not their educational district, is done without the need for the transfer process.
* For children of Compulsory Pre-primary Education, who have secured a transfer for the current school year, the re-transfer process is not required to enroll in the Pre-Primary Class.
5. NECESSARY FORMS / CERTIFICATES / DOCUMENTS FOR REGISTRATION
* The following documents must be submitted during the registration / transfer process:
- PDE Form 11 "Application for Enrollment in Primary School or Kindergarten (Compulsory Pre-Primary Education and Pre-Primary Class)" (for all students who will enroll for the first time in the specific school)
- PDE Form 29 "Certificate of Attendance at Primary School / Kindergarten" or Certificate of Attendance at Community / Private Kindergarten (only for children enrolled in the first grade)
