The 26 Forestry Commandos of the Special Forestry Operations Units (EMODE) from Greece have been at the Operations Coordination Center to extinguish the fires in Ypsonas since early Friday, where they are being briefed by Chief Fire Chief Nikos Logginos.
It is recalled that the deployment of ground forces from Greece took place yesterday through the European Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM), which was activated following a request from the Cypriot government to the European Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC).
