The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment issued a Decree on the Installation of a Positioning Device (GPS) in all waste transport vehicles on a professional basis.
The aim is to strengthen the possibility of locating a person responsible in case of illegal dumping of waste at a specific point.
According to an announcement by the Department of Environment, the Minister of Agriculture issued the Waste (Installation of a Global Positioning Device on Vehicles that Collect - Transfer Waste to a Professional Base) Decree, which introduces the obligation to install a GPS device in all professional vehicles. transport waste, in order to enhance the possibility of locating a person responsible in case of illegal dumping of waste at a specific point.
Therefore, the announcement states, those providers of location tracking systems via GPS who meet the requirements of the above Decree, are requested to send to the Director of the Department of Environment (director@environment.moa.gov.cy) their contact details, in order to be included in a list of contracted providers that will be posted on the website of the Department of Environment for the convenience of Waste Collectors-Transporters.
