With an enhanced presence of the Police both in the cities, but also in the mountains, it will enter 2025, as the operational plan for checks and patrols continues, with the aim of preventing traffic accidents.
"All over Cyprus, checks will be carried out on the entire road network, on main road arteries, in commercial streets and places where the public moves en masse", Eleni Constantinou, the officer of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, told KYPE, noting that the Police forces they will carry out checks for traffic offences, speed limit, seat belt and helmet use and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which are the main causes of fatal traffic accidents.
In view of the possibility that the number of vehicles that will head to Troodos will be increased, after the last snowfalls, Mrs. Constantinou noted that the Police invites the public to regularly monitor the announcements on the condition of the road network in the mountainous areas, as the weather conditions that affect it change frequently. He added that there will also be a continuous presence of the Police in the mountains to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles on the roads and called on the public to comply with the instructions of the police officers on duty.
In the context of Police operations, Ms. Constantinou, there will be motorized and pedestrian patrols in busy and commercial areas, until January 6, 2025.
He also called on drivers not to drive after drinking alcohol, but also on the public to take measures for protection in places where there is overcrowding, as well as for guarding their property when they are away from their premises.
