The Police is intensifying for the summer period, from tomorrow, June 1, until September 30, 2024, policing, checks, and information, in relation to the safe driving of motorcycles and mopeds, personal mobility devices, bicycles, as well as for pedestrians, always with the aim of preventing serious and fatal traffic collisions and increasing road safety.
With the summer period always being for vulnerable road users, according to recent statistics, a period of increased risk for their involvement in a traffic collision, the Police is focusing its efforts during this period on the control and policing of traffic violations committed by vulnerable users themselves, putting themselves at risk.
Among other things, it will be ascertained whether the motorcycle or moped has been stolen, whether it has registration plates and, if so, whether the plates comply with the relevant legislation, while where and where required, the procedure for detaining and moving the motorcycle or moped will be followed .
At the same time, a check will be made on whether the following traffic violations are committed:
(a) Dangerous driving
(b) Failure to use a suitable protective helmet
(c) Noisy exhaust (missing muffler)
(d) Alteration, conversion or adaptation of the machine
(e) Violation of the speed limit
(f) Driving under the influence of alcohol / drugs
(g) Driving without a driver's license
(h) No main beam
