A flash of an asteroid crossed the sky of Cyprus shortly after 21:20 on Monday. The asteroid was visible from various areas of Cyprus, from Nicosia to Limassol and Paphos.
According to posts by citizens on various Facebook pages, at around 21:20 on the evening of Monday 21/8, a bright orange flash at close range crossed the sky of Cyprus. In fact, a citizen reported that it made a strange noise as it passed.

The President of the Cyprus Space Exploration Agency, George Danos, a few minutes later posted on his personal Facebook account, stating "I just noticed a small asteroid explode over Nicosia, Cyprus at 21:20, followed 2 minutes later by a sonic boom".
